What is POE power supply?
POE (Power Over Ethernet) power supply refers to the technology that provides data transmission and DC power supply for other IP-based terminals without any modifications to the existing Ethernet Cat.5 cabling infrastructure.
POE power supply, in short, refers to power supply through a network cable, which transmits both data and electricity on the same network cable. So, POE power supply is mainly used in high-definition network digital monitoring systems, which is also known as network monitoring.

Alternative name:

① Power over LAN based power supply system (POL, Power over LAN);
② Active Ethernet
③ Power over Ethernet.
This is the latest standard specification that utilizes existing standard Ethernet transmission cables to simultaneously transmit data and electrical power, while maintaining compatibility with existing Ethernet systems and users.
POE power supply system
A complete POE system includes two parts: Power Sourcing Equipment (PSE) and Powered Device (PD).
The PSE device is the device that supplies power to the Ethernet client device, and is also the manager of the entire POE power over Ethernet process.
PD devices, on the other hand, are the client devices of the POE system, such as IP phones and network cameras, that receive power from the power supply end load.
The two establish information connections based on the IEEE 802.3af standard regarding the connection status, device type, power consumption level, and other aspects of the receiving end devices, and use this as a basis for PSE to power the PD through Ethernet.
Collection of POE power supply advantages
① Flexible wiring without the need for complex power wiring. The camera does not need to be connected to power cords or other objects, and is powered by a network cable, which is beautiful and simple.
② It can minimize costs, save power supply equipment construction and maintenance costs, such as power lines, sockets, line modifications, as well as installation labor costs and save installation time. And when the camera is powered by standard POE, the receiving module automatically recognizes the power.
③ Flexible deployment, unrestricted device deployment location, no need to consider power cord issues, socket locations, etc.
Supports the 802.3at standard, with a maximum power supply of up to 30W for a single port. At the same time, it provides support for non-standard powered devices, greatly improving the network's business access capability.
⑤ High safety factor, capable of centralized power supply and convenient backup. At the same time, the power supply equipment can be connected to UPS (Uninterrupted Power Supply), which can ensure the normal operation of the system once the main power input is interrupted.
⑥ System guarantee, front-end equipment has no strong electricity, and there will be no power leakage causing accidents, ensuring safety.
⑦ Stable performance, few wiring links, and no significant power consumption caused by complex circuits.
